As part of Day 2 of ForbesUnder 30 Summit in Boston earlier this week (October 1-4), Ms. Grey took part in a panel moderated by ForbesZack O’Malley Greenburg with the topic being The Key to Success is Telling Good Stories — So Start Today!

“….to be successful, you have to be able to tell a story. Three people who do it well took the stage at Forbes Under 30 Summit in Boston on Monday to talk about getting their message across.

Singer-songwriter Skylar Grey said having the “ability to put into words what a lot of people feel but can’t express” means it’s her responsibility to “share my music with the world.” But it was tough to get her voice heard.

Grey dropped out of high school to pursue music, she told moderator Zack O’Malley Greenburg, Forbes senior editor, but it all fell apart. She moved to cabin – isolated from everyone – and slowly fell back in love with music. ‘Love the Way You Lie’ was the first song I wrote,” Grey said of that time. That song affected a lot of people, a crux which translates to other mediums….”
